Steve Watt: "Point Will Prove Valuable"

Margate Manager Steve Watt believes that his sides point at Burgess Hill Town on Saturday will prove valuable come the end of the season.

The ‘Gate extended their unbeaten to eleven games in all competitions with a Kane Haysman 78th minute equaliser and Watt thinks it will prove to be a pivotal point.

“It was a very difficult game today against a much organised Burgess Hill Town. Some will look at the league positions and say we should be getting three points here but I think it will be a very important point come the end of the season”.

Margate fell behind but took just 10 minutes to get themselves level and it was Haysman again who netted the goal, his 4th since joining at the end of the October and Watt has nothing but praise for the winger.

“Kane has been fantastic since joining us in October. I was delighted he agreed to sign a contract last week to stay at the club until the end of the 2018/19 season, there is no doubt he has a big future at Margate FC”.

Focus now turns to Tuesday nights FA Trophy replay as Margate host Bath City of the National League South and Watt knows whilst his side will be underdogs, progression to the 1st round proper isn’t against all odds.

“Bath City are a very good side and we will have to be at our best to beat them under the lights at Hartsdown Park. We are struggling a bit with injuries at the minute but that is football and we have to deal with that”.

“Bath are a league above us and established at that level so they are favourites but I think we showed enough last week against them to prove that we can hold our own against them and who knows hopefully beat them and progress further in this competition”.
