Margate FC Ladies
History
In the 15-16 season Margate Women's were joined by Jim Cornish as Margate Ladies Team Manager and in his first season finished fourth and bagged the top two league goal scorers with Kara Richardson scoring an impressive 35 goals in 20 appearances and Beth Cooper scoring 20 goals in 14 appearances.
Margate Ladies finished worthy runners up in the 16-17 season, five points behind Maidstone Ladies. That season the ladies record was played 14 games in the league, they won 11 and lost 3. For the first time in their history the Bluebirds made a Semi Final and a Quarter Final all in one season.
In the summer break of 2018, the club parted ways with Cornish and started a new chapter with a new manager.
Evan Paris picked up the reins and marked his first game with a double header against Gillingham Ladies at Hartsdown Park. Before COVID-19 brought a premature end to the 2019-2020 season the Bluebirds were sitting 2nd in the table and made the final of the Chairman's Cup.
The 2020/2021 season has started with 4 wins and a draw in the first 5 games including wins over Ramsgate and Maidstone with Evan and the Ladies looking to go one better this season.
In January 2023, Evan Paris stepped down as the Blues Manager and the Club appointed Steph Meek as the new First Team Manager, and her assistant George Websper. By March 2023, the Ladies were sitting 4th in the SECWFL Premier Division and had reached the semi-final of the SECWFL League Cup where they were due to play Tunbridge Wells Foresters.
The team is actively seeking players to develop the squad in the League and to push for further promotion up the league pyramid.
As of 1st July 2023, Margate FC agreed to switch the name of the side to Margate FC Women to align with the continued growth of the women's game.
