Deslandes: "A Feel Good Factor at HDP"
By Josh Cole
New Blues Midfielder Montrell Deslandes says he is excited to get going this season at Hartsdown Park after joining the ‘Gate from Whitstable this summer.
Deslandes signed for the Blues last week, and was pleased with the outing at Ashford United, which saw the ‘Gate run out 1-0 winners at the Homelands Stadium “Yeah it was good to be fair (the team performance) fitness was up there, and that was my second goal of this pre-season (scored his first as a trialist), but it was a good goal, good touch and then I just got it out of my feet and finished it.”
Deslandes was asked about how he felt about the upcoming season. “100% (excited), it’s good to be back playing football, after the season finished at Whitstable I was bored at home, so I just got fit and then Andy messaged me and I got to training, happy leaving training and good at matches, just bring on the season now.”
Montrell worked with Drury last season with Whitstable and he was asked about how it is playing under the Blues new boss. “Yeah he’s a great manager, after games he would shout but only for our benefit and after the match he would tell me good things and bad things and it has only helped me improve on my game, it’s good working with him and hopefully throughout the season we get that promotion.”
Montrell was questioned about how important a winning mentality is and how important establishing that in pre-season is beneficial for the campaign ahead. “it’s always great (getting a win), I'm smiling, playing as a team, working hard, no one slacking, it's good to be back winning games.”
Montrell gave his thoughts on the upcoming match, the Isle of Thanet Cup against Ramsgate and how the team are preparing for their latest pre-season friendly. “Yeah 100% (the players a focused) we’ve got training Thursday and we are going to just work on a few things in preparation for Saturday’s game and then bring it to Ramsgate.
