Paris Reflects On Cups
After a 120 minutes of hard-fought action, Margate secured a place in the SECWFL Chairman’s Cup final.
Manager Evan Paris was full of praise for his side following the 10-goal thriller on Sunday.
“Sunday was a truly memorable afternoon at Hartsdown Park; a proper cup semi-final which had everything - drama, passion and plenty of goals! The girls were sublime from start to finish and gave their all right to the final whistle. I’m delighted we’ve made it so far in the competition and the players have earnt the right to enjoy the occasion of a cup final.”
Paris’ side will face Sussex outfit Steyning Town on Sunday 5th April at Maidstone's Gallagher Stadium with a 2pm kick off scheduled.
“It should be a great day out” Paris says. “It’s a chance for the players to play in a great ground, one they’re familiar with and to put on a good showcase. We have lots of games from now until then, but it is nice to look forward to.”
Paris reserved praise for Margate supporters who have been driving out in their numbers to support The Gate’s women’s side, it is support that has not gone unnoticed by the Manager and his players.
“I want to thank everyone who came down to HDP on Sunday and for the games this season. We’ve noticed the support increase both in size and volume. During a game like Sunday’s, that kind of support really does play a pivotal role. Hopefully we will see this continue not only at the Cup final game but for the rest of our home games. The girls are pushing all the way for that promotion spot and the support can really help boost us.”
