Bromleians (H) - 24th March 2024

By David Hansen

Margate FC Women welcome Bromleians back to Harrsdown Park this weekend as the sides meet for their final clash this season.

The two sides have clashed twice already this season with The Blues remaining victorious on both occasions. First competing in the FA cup Preliminary rounds, Margate FC boasted a 6 goal lead in a 7-1 thriller on home soil.

The teams next met in late October when a waterlogged pitch made for difficult playing conditions. It was Margate who came out on top, winning the fixture comfortably 3-0. This fixture also saw long standing player Nicole Adams break her ankle. Adams has made a return to the squad and will feature in this weeks line up.

The Blues come into this fixture off the back of 2 consecutive wins. In their last run out they brought 3 points home from The Gallagher after putting 3 goals passed Maidstone Untied. Prior to that the side paved their way into the League Cup final after a 4-1 win against Parkwood Rangers at Hartsdown Park.

The visitors however have lost their last 4 fixtures across all competitions and conceding a whopping 16 goals. With the side fighting to stay out of relegation it's all to play for this weekend.

Manager Steph Meek said:

"Morale is high, effort levels are high, commitment is high. I'm positive for this fixture.

"In the final third of the season it's all about maximising points. We're very fortunate that of the 6 remaining fixtures, 4 are with those teams halfway down the table or below

"We cannot afford to accept slack off assuming it's a given result. We must continue to work hard. Last week the players were relentless. They worked Maidstone into the ground and by tiring the opposition the team were able to play in the pockets to secure the win. I'd very much like to see that again this week and I'm confident that they will deliver on my expectations."
