MATCH PREVIEW / Margate v Hornchurch - 18th February
Margate v Hornchurch - 18th February
Margate welcome play-off chasing Hornchurch to Hartsdown Park on Tuesday evening going in search of their first win in five games in the BetVictor Isthmian Premier League.
Saturdays draw away at Brightlingsea Regent extended the Blues winless run to four games, whilst Hornchurch arrive at Hartsdown Park having not won any of their last three games, having drawn 2-2 with Merstham on Saturday.
Margate will be able to select striker Kadell Daniel despite his red card in Saturdays draw in Essex as his three game ban kick starts on Saturday against Carshalton whilst doubts remain over Defender Liam Friend who failed a late fitness test before Saturdays draw.
Margate fans will recognise former Blues midfielder Matt Johnson who is now an integral part of the ‘Urchins squad, however the away side bench will be depleted with Manager Mark Stimson and coaches Tony Gay and Timi Olomofe all serving touchline bans.
When these two sides met in August, in the first mid-week fixture of the season a Daniel double earned Margate a point in an entertaining 2-2 draw. In the three meetings since the start of the 2018/19, Margate are unbeaten having won once and drawn twice.
Margate will have to be wary of a lethal Hornchurch attack that includes former Bishops Stortford player/manager Jamie Cureton as well as Chris Dickson with both players featuring in the league’s top goal scorer’s charts with Cureton netting 17 times and Dickson 18 times, meanwhile the ‘Urchins have recently added Adam Cunnington most recently of Romford and Billericay.
Kick off at Hartsdown Park is 19:45 while turnstiles open at 18:30 with food and drink specials available from 18:30.
