Oke: "We Can Get A Result"

Margate Midfielder Emmanuel Oke says the Blues can “get a result” when they welcome high flying Aveley to Hartsdown Park on Saturday afternoon.

Oke made his return to the side as a second half substitute on Tuesday evening as the ‘Gate fell to a frustrating 1-0 defeat to Bognor Regis, however the midfielder insists the Blues can get some more points this weekend.

“Aveley will be a tough game as they are in the top three, however I think we have been more positive at home lately and with our supporters behind us I am sure we can get a positive result.”

After serving a three game ban and then missing two games through injury, Oke admits he will have to fight for his place in the starting eleven as there are no “handouts” under manager Reece Prestedge.

“Everyone has to fight for their spot in the team., There are no handouts so I will have to fight for place in the team, but hopefully I can play a part in the final games of the season.”

The Blues defeat in West Sussex left them 12 points clear of the Isthmian Premier Division relegation zone, however Oke believes the Blues have enough of a buffer to not worry about relegation.

“We have 12 points over the sides in the bottom four. I think that is enough but we don’t want to rest on our advantage so we will try our best to get more points on the board to make sure we definitely don’t get dragged into anything down the bottom.”

Despite the defeat, Oke insists that there were some positives in Margate’s performance away at Bognor Regis on Tuesday.

“We played some nice football in patches. When we get the ball and play football we look like we should be much higher in the table, but as always we need to take our chances when we get them, that is what is costing us at the moment.”

Margate return to action this weekend when the Blues take on Aveley at Hartsdown Park which is designated Ladies Day where all ladies will gain FREE entry, whilst we will celebrate everything positive about Women’s football which continues to grow each year at Hartsdown Park.
