Wood Is Good For Margate
Margate Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Nathan Wood from National League South side Tonbridge Angels.
23-year old Wood is an attacking midfielder that will look to link the midfield and strikers together. Wood started his career at Woking, however moved to Tonbridge Angels earlier this season after impressing at Faversham Town.
Upon joining the Blues, Wood says he is looking forward to the challenge.
“I spoke with Ben and Reece and they are really positive. I want to come here and make an impact and move the club away from the relegation zone and have a really positive end to the season.”
He added, “I can play in the middle or just behind the striker and hopefully make things happen. I know of Ben and Reece and obviously Jay Saunders said what a great club it is here so I am looking forward to it.”
The ‘Gate head to Horsham tomorrow looking for their first win of 2023, and joint manager Ben Greenhalgh is hoping the signing of Wood will help the cause.
‘Nathan has been our priority target from the beginning, we were in touch before he went to Tonbridge and I’m buzzing that we’ve managed to secure his services with us at this time.”
Greenhalgh continued, “Nathan is a hard working very technical attacking midfielder so I’m sure he’ll hit the ground running in a Margate shirt.”
Wood is available for the ‘Gate as they head to Sussex to face Horsham in the Isthmian Premier Division on Saturday afternoon.
