Oke: "We Need To Keep Going"
Article written by Jack Waters
Margate Defender Emmanuel Oke says the growing injury list at Hartsdown Park is making things “tough”, however he says the Blues can recover from their recent form ahead of the Blues trip to Horsham on Saturday.
The Blues have been missing their usual back-line with injuries to Harry Hudson, Freddy Barton, Harrison Hatfull and Taylor Fisher, however there is hopes that some could return ahead of Saturday’s trip to Sussex.
“We need to go again on Saturday. We were disappointed to exit the cup on Tuesday night, and as equally disappointed to let the lead slip against Brightlingsea Regent last Saturday. We are up against it at the moment with the injuries we have, but that is football and like I say we need to go again this weekend.”
Oke was the hero last Saturday with a last minute goal to rescue a 3-3 draw against Brightlingsea and he was pleased to be able to make a difference to the team.
“It is always nice to be able to get on the scoresheet. It would have been even more pleasing if it was the winner but sometimes a last minute goal to get a draw can make it feel like a win.
At just 19 years old himself, Oke is considered one of the Blues up and coming talents, however he has heaped praise on Margate U18 and Academy defender Jake McCarthy this week giving the 17-year old a special mention,
“Jake done very well for his debut, playing in front of fans for the first time, it is difficult, but we are proud. There have been a few boys that have made the step up from the Academy and U18’s side and they have a huge amount of talent.”
Margate continue their Isthmian Premier Division campaign this weekend as they travel to Sussex to face Horsham,.
