Margate Feeling Five Alive After Worthing Win

?The score-line was as convincing as it sounds with Margate dominating proceedings from start to finish in a one sided game at the home of Bognor Regis where Worthing currently find themselves ground sharing due to ongoing issues with their own pitch.

The Blues were ahead after just six minutes as Orlando Smith took a high ball down to the floor before racing down the right and cutting inside and smashing an effort into the roof of the net.

The ‘Gate looked lethal going forward and Dave Martin could have put the Blues further ahead if it wasn’t for a superb save when one on one.

The visitors were 2-0 up on 20 minutes as Frannie Collin delivered a fine cross for Jordan Chiedozie who powered home a header to extend the Gate’s lead.

The game was potentially changed in the 35th minute as both sides were reduced to 10 men as Worthing debutant Daniel Akinwunmi and Chiedozie were both sent off for an off the ball incident.

The second half was quite simply the Collin show as he netted a 13 minute hat-trick to give the ‘Gate an emphatic away day win.

Collin wriggled his way through the Worthing back line before planting one past the keeper for his first to give the Blues a 3-0 lead.

His second was a delightful 25 yard free kick which was hit with venom and bend before nestling in the bottom corner to make it 4-0 to Margate.

Collin’s 13 minute hat-trick was complete in the 74th minute as he was played through, allowing him to round the en-rushing goalkeeper and rolling the ball home.

Margate could have been 6-0 up in the final minute as Matt Bodkin was released down the left but his effort was well saved by the foot of the Worthing goalkeeper.

Three points for Margate leaves them 7th in the Bostik Premier League, meanwhile Worthing remain bottom having not collected a point from their first six games.
