Enver-Marum sets out ambitions for the season

The former Maidstone United man revealed the big part the Margate skipper had in deciding his future for the upcoming season.

“I’m really pleased to be here.” Enver-Marum said, “I had a couple of other clubs I was speaking to and I was speaking to Rogo and he really sold the club to me.”

“Rogo played a big part in getting me down here and I’ve played with Flish and Evo before. I knew that they were good players and if they were here, then it was going to be a decent squad.”

Enver-Marum comes determined to help the club climb up the football pyramid and makes his ambitions crystal clear.

“Every club, every player, every manager wants to play at the highest level they possibly can. After a poor season last year, the club doesn’t belong in this league. So as far as I’m concerned, I want to get promoted. I’ve come here to score goals and win every game, so my aspirations are I want to win the league. Simple as that.”

With a new manager, new squad and new 3G pitch, Enver-Marum admitted the new addition to Harstdown Park was also a decisive factor.

“The pitch was another huge selling point for me. I was at Maidstone last year where they had the 3G pitch and you can always guarantee you’re going to play on a decent surface. You don’t have to worry about what state the pitch is going to be in, if it’s going to be waterlogged, boggy, you know what you’re turning up to every week.”

He added, “If we can master a certain way to play on our own pitch, I can’t see anyone beating us. I look around the squad and I’ve played against the majority of them and they’re good players. Margate is on the up and as far as I’m concerned everything is heading in the right direction and as an outside before, I can see the club has done everything it can to become more professional.”
