Sittingbourne Ladies (A) - 7th January 2024

By David Hansen

Margate Women kick-Off 2024 with a trip to Woodstock Park as they take on Sittingbourne Ladies for the 3rd time this season in the SECWFL League Cup.

The 2 teams locked horns in their last game, where Margate ran out winners at Hartsdown Park with a commanding 3-0 victory in the SECWFL Premier Division, leaving Margate 5th in the league with 17 points.

Sittingbourne will be hoping that club top scorer Sian Boswell will be available after she missed out on the defeat at Hartsdown Park December. Her 15 league goals have equated to 88% of their total goals this season in the League.

Head To Head Record:

Sittingbourne 1-2 Margate - SECWFL Division 1 East - (24/10/21)

Goals: Kara Richardson x2

Margate 3-3 Sittingbourne - SECWFL Division 1 East - (09/01/22)

Goals: Kara Richardson x1, Wiktoria Bukowska x1, Nicole Adams x1

Sittingbourne 2-2 Margate - SECWFL Premier Division - (30/04/23)

Goals: Nicole Adams x1, Abbie Greetham x1

Sittingbourne 2-0 Margate - SECWFL Premier Division - (30/04/23)

Sittingbourne 3-3 Margate - SECWFL Premier Division - (03/09/23)

Goals: Paige Godden x1, Esmee Kew-Stroud x1, Holly Enright x1

Margate 3-0 Sittingbourne - SECWFL Premier Division - (17/12/23)

Goals: Esmee Kew-Stroud x1, Becca Slevin x1, Abbie Luby x1

Who to look out for:

The obvious candidate for Sittingbourne is Sian Boswell, over the past 3 seasons for the club has netted 71 times in the Division making her an obvious threat. With missing out on the most recent game she will want to show how her quality was missed last time out.

For Margate we’ve chosen midfielder Harriet Chapman, with her technical ability and brilliant passing she has picked up 4 goals and many assists making her the main focal point of the team which has allowed the squad to play expressive attacking football.

The game will take place at Woodstock Park with Kick-Off at 13:30 on the 7th of January with a place in the semi-finals of the SECWFL Cup on the line.
