Margate extended their unbeaten run to 10 games in all competitions as they were held to a 0-0 draw by Tonbridge Angels for the second time this season.

?The Blues welcomed back Chris Sessegnon to the side after he was rested against Herne Bay in the FA Cup otherwise it was exactly the same side that won three points at Leatherhead the week before.

Margate struggled to get into the game early on and could of fell behind within eight minutes as Andre McCollin raced through before dragging his fierce right foot drive wide of the post when bearing down on Lenny Pidgeley’s goal.

Margate were lacking in much creativity going forward and struggled to really get at the Tonbridge back four in the first half with Orlando Smiths acrobatic overhead kick the only chance to cause any slight panic in the Tonbridge box.

The only other action of the first half was an early substitute for Margate as Sessegnon was taken off with a knee injury to be replaced by Ben Swift.

Margate started the second half looking a lot brighter with some nice play in the middle of the park but still failed to gain any momentum in the attacking areas of play.

The visitors created their best chance of the evening on 55 minutes as Jordan Chiedozie and Frannie Collin linked up with some neat play before Chiedozie superbly curled an effort towards the top corner with Jon Henley saving superbly only for Collin to blast the rebound over the bar.

Margate had defender Tom Wynter to thank for still being level soon after as another fierce Tonbridge effort beat Pidgeley only for the ever reliable Wynter to head off the line and away for safety to keep the scores at 0-0.

The point sees Margate drop to 9th in the Bostik Premier table although they have two games in hand on some teams around them.

The Blues are back in action on Saturday 7th October 2017 as thy travel to North London to face Enfield Town in the Bostik Premier League with kick off at 3pm.

MARGATE: Pidgeley, Sessegnon (Swift 38’) Mills, Rogers, Friend, Wynter, Smith, Prescott, Chiedozie, Collin, Martin (Bodkin 71’)
