Watt "Gutted" By Late Leveller
Margate Manager Steve Watt admits he was “gutted” to concede another late goal which denied his side a win at Hartsdown Park on Tuesday night against Met Police in the Bostik Premier League.
The ‘Gate were held to a 1-1 draw despite dominating the game for large periods, however Lloyd Macklin’s 30 yard effort five minutes from the end left Watts side with just a point.
“It was gutting because I thought first half in particular we were very strong and perhaps should have been further in front but when things are going against you as they are at the minute that is the way football goes”.
“I don’t think anyone can say we aren’t giving our all because the boys are controlling games but we will overcome this blip and get back on track”.
On Saturday the Blues face Staines again after their FA Trophy clash last week but Watt expects a much tougher game than last week’s encounter.
“We were very, very good at Staines last week but this Saturday I imagine will be a different type of fixture. They will be looking for revenge I’m sure and we will have to be ready for that but we want to start the new month with a win and put October behind us”.
“The league is the bread and butter of all football so we know we have to improve our results if we are to achieve our goals for this season and we will all be working harder than ever to ensure that happens”.
With 358 in attendance, Watt praised the crowd and admits that they have a huge part to play this season.
“The fans here are very passionate about the club which as a Manager is so good to see. We all have to channel that passion into getting behind the boys and enjoying the good times together but also suffering the not so good times together”.
Margate return to Hartsdown Park this Saturday 4th November 2017 as they face Staines Town in the Bostik Premier League.
Kick-off is 3pm.
