Margate versus Worthing

Margate versus Worthing

The hunt for some important Bostik League points over the Easter weekend begins on Saturday afternoon as Margate welcome Worthing FC to Hartsdown Park.

Team News

Manager Steve Watt welcomes Orlando Smith back to his squad selection. The popular Margate player returned to the club for a second spell following his signing earlier this week.

The Gate’s top scorer Jordan Chiedozie returns from a two-match suspension, whilst centre-back Ben Swift could be in contention for selection after a niggling hamstring injury.

Form Guide

September's 5-0 victory at Worthing won't deter from the challenge Margate face against a side on a good run. Both teams have enjoyed a solid month having incurred just the one loss in the past five games each.

The Gate will be desperate to respond to last weekend’s late 1-1 result against Enfield and push for three points following a four-game run of successive draws.

Worthing have beaten some of the League’s top teams and will present a tough opposition for Watt’s starting eleven.

2-1 victories against Billericay and Tonbridge Angels, besides a 3-0 win versus Tooting and Mitcham will give the visitors bundles of confidence ahead of their trip. A notable 3-3 draw against play-off hopefuls Staines further demonstrates the goal-scoring threat Worthing will pose.

Match Day Entertainment

Hartsdown will be open at the earlier time of 1pm to welcome Mini Gators to take part in an Easter Egg Hunt. After all the chocolate treats have been collected, Margate FC Youth coaches will be running a free skills and drills session from 1:15-1:45pm.

Our bar will also be open from 1pm to welcome families for a drink whilst the Sky Sports screens are on.

Come rain or shine, the hunt will be on. If the weather isn’t looking too pretty, we’ll simply re-locate the hunt to inside. There’s no need to register or book, simply turn up armed with a good-sized basket to collect your chocolate eggs and suitable footwear to take part in the football session on a 3G surface.

Our popular half-time penalty shoot out makes a return. Under 16s can sign up to take part by visiting our Club Shop before kick-off to register. Places are given on a first come, first served basis. Places can not be registered on behalf of someone else, so to avoid disappointment please make sure you come down early!
