Development Squad Ease Through To Intermediate Cup 2nd Round
Margate U23s eased into the next round of the Kent Intermediate Cup with a 3-0 win over Ashford United at Hartsdown Park.
Gate named a young team, with one eye on the league game at Greenwich Borough on Thursday, with 9 of the starting 11 still U18.
First half goals from Sid Warden, back after 6 weeks out from a toe operation and debutant 16 year old Seth Crabbe, who impressed throughout, set Margate on their way.
The game was sewn up early in the second half, when an outstanding through ball from Warden found Harrison Hume who slotted past the onrushing keeper.
This sets up a clash in the next round against Faversham Town, with U23s looking for revenge following their 0-2 defeat to the same opposition on the opening day of the league campaign.
Margate: Waller, Matthews, Hulett, Dockwray, Mallon, Dowling, Hume, Warden (c), Richards, Ghali, Crabbe
Subs
: Webster, Rai, Bird, Miller, Nwanosike
