Lewes (A) - 27th January 2024

By Josh Cole

The season continues as we travel down to Brighton to take on Lewes at The Dripping Pan for matchday #26!

Last time out, we suffered a 0-2 defeat against Bognor Regis at Hartsdown Park last Saturday. Read the full match report by clicking here.

Stimson will look to assess Sam Blackman before the game, with our captain missing the last game through injury. We will continue to be without Ben Greenhalgh who serves his 3-match suspension after being dismissed against Whitehawk. After picking up an injury on Thursday night, the ‘Gate will travel without defender Lewis Knight.

Both new signings Dominic Vose and Yaser Kasim will be available to play today!

OPPONENTS SEASON SO FAR:

A big talking point for Lewes was how they were going to cope without arguably a National League South level striker in Joe Taylor. At first, it looked like the departure didn’t affect the Rooks at all as they won their first three games and drew two going unbeaten in the first five. Two defeats then followed against Kent sides Folkestone and Chatham before a victory over Hastings at home. Another win and a draw followed cementing the Sussex outfit in playoff contention. A defeat at Hartsdown Park set them on a tough run of form only winning once in a span of five games. They quickly jumped back on form and went unbeaten for seven games, winning five and drawing two before suffering a massive 5-0 loss against Billericay.

Lewes are strong in front of their own fans, sitting 8th in the home form table with 22 points from 11 games. We continue to struggle on the road, sitting 21st in the away form table, picking up six points from 11 games.
