Blues Enjoy Tough Test Against Hashtag Women Despite Defeat
Margate FC Women take a wealth of positives despite a defeat to Hashtag Utd Women on Sunday afternoon.
The 'Gate welcomed Hashtag on home soil in a bid to promote women's football locally and the game achieved just that.
Hashtag being some 4 tiers higher than the home side netted their first goal after 10 minutes of play and it didn't stop there. At half time the score line sat at an impressive 5-0 to the visiting side.
The Blues continued to show their character and spirit as they battled to minimise the score line, but a number of knocks and injuries left the home team battling to their last ounce of energy.
The match proved fruitful in exposing the players to a higher level of play as well as promoting the side both locally and nationally through hashtags well renowned social media channels. The home side also saw over 100 fans through the turnstiles for their first home fixture since implementing a charge.
Despite the loss the team gained valuable experience from being exposed to such a high level team and morale remained high as the sides walked off at full time.
The women return to action as they travel to Tonbridge Angels for a 6pm kick-off after the men’s fixture on Saturday afternoon.
Our next home friendly is on Sunday 6th August 2023 when they face Millwall U18 Lionesses, with kick-off scheduled for 2:30pm.
