MATCH PREVIEW / Lewes (A) - 22nd October 2022
Lewes (A) - 22nd October 2022
Margate face a trip to Sussex as they take on Lewes at The Dripping Pan for Matchday twelve of the season on Saturday afternoon.
Margate get their second win in a row after beating Canvey Island 2-0 at Hartsdown Park. A positive showing in the first half ultimately amounted to nothing but Margate would take that confidence into the second half, and after 5 minutes of madness where Sam Blackman would receive a second yellow, Mason Hall would receive a second yellow and the Canvey manager seeing red, the ‘Gate would open the scoring and break the deadlock in the 67th minute through Korrey Henry who tapped home a Brodie shot which was parried by the keeper. Margate found a second in the 81st minute when Ben Greenhalgh would turn home a Dsane shot which again was parried by the keeper.
Margate will be without Sam Blackman (suspended) for the trip to Lewes after his sending off against Canvey Island.
Last season Lewes had the upper hand over the ‘Gate as they did the double, winning 6-2 at Hartsdown Park on the 9th of October and in the return fixture at The Dripping Pan Lewes ran out 2-0 victors on the 29th of March.
The ‘Gate gave to go back to August 2019 for their last win over the Sussex side when they beat them 2-0 at Hartsdown Park. The Blues haven’t won at the Dripping Pan since August 2014, when a Ryan Moss hat-trick sent Margate on their way to a 5-1 win in their promotion season from the Isthmian Premier Division.
