MATCH PREVIEW / Folkestone Invicta (H) - 22nd November 2022
Folkestone Invicta (H) - 22nd November 2022
Margate welcome Folkestone to Hartsdown Park tonight (Tuesday) in the Fourth Round of the Velocity Trophy.
The Blues reached the final of this competition last season before being beaten comprehensively 4-0 by Horsham, who defeated Invicta in the semi-finals to reach the final themselves.
Margate come into this fixture on the back of four wins in a row after last Tuesday evenings 3-0 win against Sheppey United in the Kent Senior Cup. It had been the first time Margate had won four competitive games in a row since March 2019, and they will equal that run of games tonight should they progress to the last eight.
The Blues will be without Troy Howard (ankle), however they could welcome back Korrey Henry (groin), although there are doubts over James Bessey-Saldanha (hamstring) and Sam Blackman (leg).
Invicta come into this game on the back of a morale booting penalty shoot-out win in the Isuzu FA Trophy on Saturday over Beaconsfield. Despite performing well in cup competitions they will be disappointed with their overall league position of 17th in the Isthmian Premier Division standings.
The Blues recorded the double over Invicta last season winning 3-1 at Hartsdown Park in the New Year, before earning an Easter Bank Holiday 1-0 win.
The winners of tonight’s tie will progress to the last eight of the competition.
