MATCH PREVIEW / Brightlingsea Regent | 23.10.21
Brightlingsea Regent | 23.10.21
By Tommy Park
Margate are back at home this Saturday 23 October to host Brightlingsea Regent in the Isthmian Premier League.
This will be the first time the teams face this season, the last game between these sides was back in September of 2020 in which Margate secured a 2-1 away win.
Margate are currently sitting 7th in the league with 17 points from 10 matches. (5W,2D,3L) and Brightlingsea currently 17th.
The upcoming fixtures are important for the Blues as they still seek to consolidate their position and widen the gap between themselves and Haringey who are just one point behind. Whilst the next five teams are just two points behind at this stage. All the teams behind Margate fighting to break out of the pack and into the top six of the league.
We could see Margate set up with a slightly different team this weekend after picking up some injuries in the game against Bishops Stortford. Manager Jay Saunders could make some changes in the centre back position as starting centre back Lewis Knight went off in the 80th minute with an injury.
James Bessey-Saldanha also picked up an injury against Bishops and could miss the game this Saturday. We may see the return of Martial Godo who had picked up a knock and missed out on the weekend game. Jay has stated in an interview Godo could have started this game so if he's back in time for the match against Brightlingsea we may see Godo in the starting XI.
An important game for Margate this weekend and a busy week to come with another home game on Tuesday and an FA Trophy match on Saturday the 30th.
Kick off at Hartsdown Park is 3pm with turnstiles open from 1:30pm. As always if you are unable to attend you can keep up to date at the clubs official Twitter @margate_fc
