Gate Chairman Steps Down
Margate Football Club can confirm that Terry Painter is to step down as Club Chairman.
Terry has been fulfilling the role since January 2018, and after a lot of consideration, will relinquish the role ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.
Ricky Owen, who has been serving as Vice-Chairman, will step into the role of Chairman with Director Chris Chambers appointed Vice-Chairman moving forwards.
Reflecting on his time as Chairman, Terry said:
“It is time for me to step down from my position as Chairman, and as a director. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in supporting me throughout my time at the club, you have all made significant contributions and helped me along the way.”
“I have been very fortunate to work with so many wonderful people. There really is a fantastic team pushing the club forwards. I wish everyone; from the owner to the new Chairman, and all the supporters, all the very best for the future.”
Speaking for the first time as Club Chairman, Ricky was quick to thank his predecessor for all his hard work at Hartsdown Park.
“Firstly, I would like to thank Terry for all he has done whilst in charge and wish him and his family all the best for the future. I can assure everyone that I will do my best to drive the club forward, and I know Chris, Jay, Deny and all involved have the same shared goal.”
“Jay is in the process of building an exciting and well-balanced squad, and off the pitch our plans for the wider development of the ground continue. The past two seasons have been extremely frustrating and challenging for the everyone, but better times are ahead!”
