Blues and Leatherhead Share The Spoils
Margate extended their unbeaten run in the Bostik Premier League to four games after playing out a dour 0-0 draw against Leatherhead at Hartsdown Park.
As temperatures plummeted, the 398 supporters couldn’t even draw warmth from the football as both sides cut each other out with neither side creating much in attack.
It was the visitors who controlled the possession count early on with D’Sean Theobolds and Tom Derry seeing efforts go harmlessly wide of Sam Sargeant’s goal.
The only real chance of the first half come in the 39th minute as Niall McManus saw his effort well saved by Sargeant before a goal mouth scramble ensued with Margate eventually clearing their lines.
Margate did have the ball in the back of the net in the 51st minute but Jordan Chiedozie was adjudged to be offside as the frustration grew for both sides.
Ben Swift latched onto an in-swinging free kick but he couldn’t turn the ball home before Sam Blackman took aim from 25 yards out in the closing minutes but his effort flew well over the bar as both teams had to settle for a point each.
MARGATE: Sargeant, Evans, Wynter, Rogers, Friend, Swift, Haysman, Blackman, Chiedozie, Collin (Prescott 87’), Martin (Bodkin (87’)
