Whitehawk (A) - 14th November 2023

Margate travel to Sussex on Tuesday evening as they face Whitehawk in the Velocity Trophy 3rd Round.

The Blues will be looking to avenge their quarter-final defeat last season as the ‘Hawks ran out 4-3 winners on a crazy night at Hartsdown Park.

Margate travel having suffered a frustrating week having conceded two 96th minute goals in draws against Haringey Borough and Dulwich Hamlet, meaning the Blues sit 14th in the league table.

Whitehawk head into the game off the back of a 1-0 defeat to Chatham on Saturday, however previous to that they were on a 12 game unbeaten run in all competitions, stretching back to September when they were knocked out of the Emirates FA Cup away at Worthing.

Manager Reece Prestedge admitted the Blues would look to give some minutes to those that hadn’t played as many minutes in recent games, however two definite changes that he will be forced into making is both Lewis Knight (cup-tied) and Archie Johnson (Suspension) will miss out.

This will be the second meeting between these two sides this season after Margate’s opening day 2-1 win over the Hawks at Hartsdown Park. Head to head meetings between these two sides have been in favour of Whitehawk who have won five of the last ten meetings, Margate have won two, whilst three have been drawn.

Last time Margate visited Whitehawk was the August Bank Holiday Monday in 2018 when the sides played out a dull 0-0 draw.

Kick-off on Tuesday is 7:45pm, but as always if you can’t join us then you can stay right up to date on our X account from 7pm.
