Hatfull: "No Ceiling To What We Can Achieve"
By Dylan Smith
Margate full-back Harrison Hatfull was delighted with the team’s response after a disappointing first half in Saturday’s 2-1 win over Potters Bar Town at Hartsdown Park.
“We were below standards in the first half, but take the weather into consideration, despite the fact both teams had to play in it. We understand that the first half was below par. The second half showed what we can really do and when we’re on the front foot we can be dangerous.”
Hatfull insisted that Manager Reece Prestedge didn't have to say much at half-time as they already know what is expected of them already.
“He pretty much said sort it out, we set standards for ourselves, Prez has, Ben has, Elliot has, and ultimately, we have standards for ourselves. We know we didn’t live up to them standards in the first half, me included, we all knew what we had to do, it was just the matter of doing it.”
Hatfull felt that he was ‘back to himself’ as the boys turned the game around in the second half.
“It was a game of two halves from me. First half was comfortable, but I know what I can do better. Second half I felt that I was back to myself, back to how I normally am, and it was nice to get an assist. Always nice when you know you have a striker to rely on, who is going to be in the right areas to score.”
The ’Gate have now bounced back from their two losses in a row in the league.
“That’s two wins in a row now with the FA cup game the last week. We are just looking to build momentum, we don’t want to put a ceiling on anything, we just want to do what we can and see what we can get to.”
The boys are looking forward to rectifying things as they face Folkestone in the cup this weekend coming.
“Last time our performance isn’t what we wanted to put out. If we play like we did second half on Saturday, we can hurt any team. We will go in with confidence, we are back at home so it’s down to us to set the tempo.”
Hatfull and Margate return to action on Saturday as they face Folkestone Invicta in the Emirates FA Cup at Hartsdown Park. Tickets can be purchased in advance by clicking here.
Harrison is sponsored by David & Lesley Swinnock both Home and Away for the 2023/24 season.
