Bluebirds take the points in local derby

The Thanet derby on Sunday saw the ladies host Ramsgate women at HDP in this much anticipated game for both the players and supporters, and it was the blues who took the 3pts with a 4-2 victory.

A new looking, more resilient and youthful Ramsgate team stunned the hosts as they took the lead early on firing home a very generous looking free kick on the edge of the area.

Margate responded well, and a fine run and finish from Shannon King levelled the scores midway through the half.

A lack of composure and poor ball retention lead to the blues going behind again a few minutes later as an unmarked Ram fired in from six yards from a cross that could of been dealt with in the build up.

The first half wasn't pretty to watch as both teams struggled to settle into any rhythm but Margate levelled once again as Lucy Paris found the bottom corner from a free kick just outside the area and the teams went in all square at the break.(2-2).

Margates approach in the second half was a lot more satisfying as they played with more authority and started to dictate the game.

Having come from behind twice the blues took the lead as Nicole Adams added to her seasons tally, connecting and volleying home from a well delivered cross. The visitors seemed to tire as Margate piled on the pressure in the final 20 minutes but were guilty of misfiring in front of goal.

The game was finally put to bed as new signing and ex Ram Rhyanna Bailey out smarted two defenders leaving herself with a clear run on the away keeper who had no chance as she slotted home and the bluebirds picked up the points and retained the local bragging rights.

"It was great to pick up the points, even with a below par performance and i would like to thank all the supporters for turning out and cheering the team to victory".

Next up for Margate is an away trip to the Gallagher this Sunday in a top of the table clash against Maidstone as both teams look to preserve their unbeaten start to the season.
