INTERVIEW / Haysman delighted to get off the mark
Haysman delighted to get off the mark
Having signed for the club last month, it’s been a positive start to life at Margate for attacking midfielder Kane Haysman, who scored his first goal for the club on Tuesday evening.
Signing from league rivals Kingstonian, Haysman’s impact has had an evident impact on The Gate’s improved attacking displays in recent weeks.
The 22-year-old couldn’t hide his delight at sealing the winner to secure three important points away at Merstham earlier this week.
“It’s nice to have a good start. I’ve been waiting for my first goal to get off the mark. I knew it was coming and I’ve got it which I’m really pleased about and want it to be the first of many.”
Reflecting on a gritty comeback in testing conditions in Surrey, Haysman said:
“It was a tough game. We didn’t do too well in the first-half but Jordan produced a bit of magic which helped us out and then in the second half, I thought we were the better team and deserved to win the game.”
Speaking of the match winner, he added, “I just got the important touch and it was a relief to see the ball go into the back of the net. I thought we were going to get the win, I could tell it was coming and it was just joy to get off the mark and get the three points.”
The switch to Margate is one Haysman is enjoying and has clear ambition to help drive the club forwards and up the league table.
“It’s been nice to join the boys, they are a good set of lads and I just want to help us push on now and get ourselves into the play-off position at the end of the season.”
