New Director Joins The Gate
Chairman Ricky Owen recently announced a new addition to the Margate FC board. Ahead of the 2021/22 season, long-term supporter Steve Albon will become a Director at The Gate.
Steve is absolutely no stranger to Hartsdown Park, as he explained.
“I have supported the club since the late 80s and am also a shareholder in the club. I have also done various voluntary bits of work for the club in the past and am honoured to have been asked to join the board.”
Steve will be using his experience and passion to help support The Gate on and off the pitch and shared a bit more information about his area of focus.
“My role is to take on welfare, diversity and to be a liaison between the club and supporters. I have already arranged a meeting next week with the Chair of the Supporters Group and others. I will also get involved in anything else the club needs me to.”
“On a personal note, I am a ward Councillor for TDC and am in the Shadow Cabinet. I bring my grandson for football training to the ground on Saturday mornings. With my Council work and now MFC work, my life is full and active.”
Steve is already busy getting to work and is excited for a new campaign to unfold after a couple of tough, curtailed seasons due to the Covid 19 pandemic.
“Looking forward, I think the team will have a decent season and hope we will be In or around the play offs at the end of the season.”
“I would ask all supporters to be as positive as I am for the team and the club as whole. I believe this is an exciting time for the club and the board will do what it can to ensure success on the pitch and for the future development of the ground.”
“Come On You Blues!”
