Fans' Favourite Delights At Return
Returning Margate defender Chris Sessegnon admits he can’t wait to get started again after re-joining The Blues ahead of the season opener at Hartsdown Park on Saturday.
It means a return to Margate for the versatile 25-year-old who will enjoy his 26th birthday when the ‘Gate host Brightlingsea Regent in their BetVictor Isthmian Premier opener on Saturday.
“It is good to be back, I really enjoyed my time here before until the injury which was really difficult, but the people here at the club are great and the supporters get behind you and hopefully we can enjoy a good season”.
“The Gaffer has been really honest about our aims this season and I am hopeful that we can give the supporters something to cheer about as they deserve that at least”.
The defender who has featured throughout pre-season opened up about how his knee injury affected him whilst he was not playing.
“It is tough when you are injured and you don’t have a team. You miss everything that goes with it, the training, the dressing room banter and of course playing games every week."
"Luckily for me, I had some great support around me and I managed to get fit and then the opportunity to get fitter come about and then its just gone from there”.
Sessegnon revealed, "Jay and Mike invited me along to help with fitness and then after a few games in pre-season we started thinking about the season ahead. When Jay offered me something, it was an obvious choice for me to come back here and try to be successful”.
The ‘Gate face Brightlingsea Regent this weekend and Sessegnon is expecting a tough test, despite The Blues fantastic pre-season form.
“I know that the Gaffer has played down the results in pre-season which is right because there are so many different factors that affect results in pre-season like fitness, new formations etc. So we can’t say we’ve won all but one and expect to start the season in the same form”.
“Brightlingsea will be difficult as they’ve established themselves at this level and we know that they will come looking for an opening day win, as we will."
"It will be a tough game but I think we can put on a good show and hopefully send the fans home happy with the three points”.
