MATCH PREVIEW / Potters Bar Town (A) - 7th February 2023
Potters Bar Town (A) - 7th February 2023
By Josh Cole
Margate travel to Hertfordshire on Tuesday night to take on out of form Potters Bar Town as the Blues look to continue to pick up points and ensure their safety in the Isthmian Premier Division for next season.
Reece Prestedge’s side took their total points tally to 37 after beating Corinthian Casuals 2-0 on Saturday with two second half goals from Ruben Soares-Junior on his full debut, and Sam Blackman ensuring all three points in the 93rd minute. Potters Bar Town, were thumped 5-0 away at Canvey Island making it two straight 5-0 defeats in a row for Tuesday night’s hosts.
Margate will be without Emmanuel Oke as he serves his third and final game of a three match suspension and Ade Cole is a doubt for the away trip after picking up a knock during Saturday’s win. Former Margate midfielder Lee Protheroe resigned as manager of Potters Bar on Sunday evening leaving them without an appointed manager for the forthcoming fixture at the time of upload.
Margate are yet to play their opponents with this fixture originally meant to be played on the 10th of December but due to a frozen pitch, it was postponed. The two teams will face off in the reverse fixture at Hartsdown Park on the final day of the season.
The ‘Gate have struggled in recent times against Potters Bar, as the hosts are unbeaten in the last four fixtures between the sides with Margate’s last win coming on the 1st of December 2018.
Potters Bar are winless in their last five games conceding 17 goals during that time. On the other hand, Margate have only conceded three goals in their last five, keeping clean sheets in the last two matches.
A win could see Margate rise to 14th in the Isthmian Premier Division league standings, and crucially 16 points clear of the drop zone with only nine league games remaining.
Kickoff is at 19:45 but if you are unable to make it then head over to our official Twitter @margate_fc for live match updates throughout the match!
