Deal Town versus Margate FC

Margate travel to the Charles Ground on Saturday to face Deal Town as they begin pre-season ahead of the 2018/19 season.

New Management duo Mike Sandmann and Steve Brown take their Blues side to their SCEFL counterparts with their new look squad assembled ahead of another gruelling Bostik Premier League campaign.

Blues fans will welcome back familiar faces Liam Friend, Tom Wynter, James Rogers, Frannie Collin, Ben Swift, Lee Prescott, Alex Flisher and Ben Fitchett from last season’s U23’s title winning squad.

There is an opportunity to welcome new signings Ollie Boulding, Henry Newcombe, Joe Taylor, Alex Brown and other trialists who are expected to feature throughout the 90 minutes.

.

The game will kick off at the earlier time of 12pm to allow supporters and players of both sides to watch England’s first World Cup Quarter-Final in 12 years, as they face Sweden in Russia at 3pm for a place in the competition's semi-final.

Joint Manager Mike Sandmann is hoping for a positive day all round.

“It is great to be back playing games ahead of what will be a competitive Bostik Premier League this season."

"We all know that these friendlies are about getting used to formations and getting players back to peak fitness, so the results are almost irrelevant. It gives us an opportunity to look at some trialists and under 23 players who will feature against Deal”.

Sandmann added: “Ideally, we can come through the 90 minutes with no injuries and having put on a solid performance for our fans before the boys in Russia can hopefully see us through against Sweden just to keep the dream alive of football coming home”.

Kick off at the Charles Ground is 12pm with the following admission prices applicable:

Adults £5

Concessions £3

Under 18s Free
