Corinthian Casuals - 8 February

Margate welcome Corinthian Casuals to Hartsdown Park on Saturday looking for their first win in three games after defeats to Enfield Town and Merstham.

The Blues had looked like they had found some consistency after wins over Haringey Borough, Wingate & Finchley and a draw away at Bishops Stortford, however two defeats in a row has left Jay Saunders side 14th in the current BetVictor Isthmian Premier League table.

Saturdays visitors to Hartsdown Park are embroiled in a relegation battle and sit 20th in the standings having struggled particularly at the start of the season, however seven points from the last possible 15 available has seen the Casuals breathe some life into their relegation battle. They were one possible fixture for the Blues in the Quarter Final of the Velocity Trophy, however fell to a shock defeat to Burgess Hill Town on Tuesday evening.

Jay Saunders side will take a big boost from their recent form against the Casuals having won all three of the meetings since the start of the 2018/2019 season. It was in fact the London side that Gate kick started their campaign off against last season with a convincing 5-2 victory at Hartsdown P\ark with the Gate leading 5-0 at the break.

Earlier in the season, Saunders saw his side run out 2-1 winners thanks to goals from Elliot Reeves after 46 seconds and a first goal for the club from since departed Hafeez Sanusi.

Jay Saunders has no new injury concerns ahead of the game and could give new Gillingham loanee Jimmy Witt a home debut after he signed last Saturday and made his debut in the defeat toy Merstham.

Kick off at Hartsdown Park is 3pm with turnstiles opening at 1:30pm.
