Brown Delighted To Extend Loan

Following the news of his extended stay at Hartsdown Park, we caught up with young winger George Brown.

On loan from Colchester United, the 20-year-old has settled in well at Margate and believes his football has benefitted from the experience of playing week in, week out in the Bostik League.

“I feel like I have improved a lot since being here. The managers and the players have welcomed me and made me feel at ease. I also feel the football is completely different which I had to adapt to, which I feel I have done well.”

“I am happy that I have extended my loan, as the period is busy, there will be more matches which will be good for me to play in as I’d gain more experience under my belt. I haven’t set myself any personal targets as I just enjoy my football and if I get an assist or a goal it’s a bonus for me.”

Brown’s enjoyment on the pitch is visible, as is his impressive goal-scoring run, a fantastic streak of form which the youngster is focused on sustaining.

“Yes, it is very pleasing, I feel all the hard work I have done has been rewarded with my goals and this gives me more confidence to keep the run going.”

Brown added, “I feel the managers have helped me learn more things as a winger. For example, making runs off the ball and putting me in goal scoring positions.”

“The players have also helped me on the pitch by telling me what positions to be in to receive the ball and to cause threat to the other opponents.”

Looking ahead to Saturday's game against Wingate and Finchley, it will be another tough game and Brown revealed he and his team-mates are desperate to put on a good display for supporters.

“The mood has definitely been lifted a lot and last Saturday’s result has given us confidence. I feel like we need a win at home as the supporters deserve it.”

“They play a very important role, as they boost confidence to the players even if things aren’t going well they are still very supportive and encouraging.”

“I hope they can keep believing in the team as we have a good squad and I’m sure success is coming our way.”

Show your support to George and his team-mates by joining us on Saturday 8 December for the first festive fixture of the month. Tickets can be purchased online here.
