INTERVIEW / Steve Watt: "Win Was For Supporters"
Steve Watt: "Win Was For Supporters"
Margate Boss Steve Watt praised the Margate Supporters after the Blues moved up to 10th in the Bostik Premier League on Saturday with a convincing 2-0 win over high flying Staines Town.
Second half goals from Jordan Chiedozie and Jack Evans sealed the ‘Gate’s first win in the league in six games and Manager Watt had nothing but praise for the home sides supporters.
“The fans were fantastic as they are always are but after a tough run of results it is nice to send them home happy and with the three points as well”.
“The atmosphere was brilliant. The new stand definitely helped that but a lot of praise must go the supporters”.
Watt was particularly pleased with the way his side kept free scoring Staines at bay for the whole 90 minutes.
“Staines have scored 36 goals so far in the league this season so for us to keep two clean sheets in a week against them is a brilliant achievement”.
“Not only have we kept them at bay but also we have stopped them from having a single shot on goal so I think that says a lot about the whole team and its defensive duties from front to back”.
Tuesday night sees Margate travel to Merstham just three weeks since a 2-0 home defeat and Watt is looking for a much better display from his boys.
“We let ourselves down against Merstham last time so we have to put that right. Tuesday is a an opportunity for us to close the gap on that top five and we hope to take maximum advantage of that”.
