Haringey Borough (A) - 7th April 2023

By Josh Cole

A Good Friday offering brings a trip to the North of the Capital as we face Haringey Borough at the CVS Van Hire Stadium.

Margate put in another brilliant performance last Saturday at Hartsdown Park as we drew 2-2 against play-off chasing Lewes to build on their incredible win at then league leaders Hornchurch the previous week, which means the Blues are all but safe for another season of Isthmian Premier Division football next season.

Haringey previously fell to a 2-1 defeat to title chasing Aveley but neither side have nothing to play for except pride for the rest of the season, however the Blues manager Reece Prestedge will be keen for three further points after challenging his side to reach the 50-point mark by the end of the season, a win in North London would move the ‘Gate onto 47 points with three games remaining.

Margate are still likely to be without Harrison Hatfull, Harry Hudson and Ade Cole, whilst there are doubts over the availability of Phil Roberts who hobbled off early in the second half of last week’s draw at Hartsdown Park.

The ‘Gate have faced Haringey eight times since 2018 with Margate winning three times, Haringey winning three times and two games ending in draws. In the reverse fixture at Hartsdown Park, it was an entertaining 3-3 draw which saw Margate come back from 3-1 down to level the game including a 90th minute goal from Cameron Brodie.

Haringey’s last five matches have seen wins against Kingstonian (0-3) and Herne Bay (0-1), a draw against Hornchurch (1-1) and two losses against Bowers and Pitsea (2-1) and Aveley (1-2). The ‘Gate go to Haringey on the back of two brilliant results against Hornchurch (2-3 win), and Lewes (2-2 draw) but the matches before saw three losses against Aveley (0-1), Bognor Regis (1-0) and Canvey (5-2).
