U23's Win Away At Bearsted

U23

By Paul Meade

Margate U23’s bounced back to winning ways with a very impressive 4-2 victory away to Bearsted FC.

The ‘Gate side could not have asked for a better start scoring two quick goals in first four minutes.

The lively Akeem Amodemaja drove home his first on two mins after a good right wing run and cross from Tom Handley.

Margate doubled their lead in the 4th min when this time it was the turn of Akeem to be the provider for a brilliant left foot volley from in-form striker Woody Pitman.

The shell-shocked opposition new they had to work hard to get into the game and on 21 mins they did just that with a fine turn and first time shot to pull a goal back.

The ‘Gate were under some intense pressure but denied any clear-cut chances and with another quick break away forced a corner from an Akeem strike.

From the resulting corner Conner Wardle produced the perfect far post delivery for Pitman to score his second and Margate's third on 34 mins with a towering far post header, meaning The Blues took a great 1-3 lead into halftime.

The second half began this time with Bearsted starting the livelier and they pulled a goal back within three minutes of the restart.

This was very short lived as only sixty seconds later on 49 mins Akeem got his deserved second goal after the tricky Iman Alam, who was causing problems all game, after a fine cross re-established the two-goal cushion.

The game became very open with Bearsted frantically trying to create opportunities this only allowed for more breakaways through Iman, Fabian De Oliviera and Tom Handley.

Margate’s defence of Handley, Mirza, Billy Miles and Tyler Lee showed great signs of maturity in managing the rest of the game seeing out the last fifteen minutes to a fully deserved victory, with Margate winning 4-2!
