Manager Jay Saunders was pleased with the way his side acquitted themselves as they earned a valuable three points in the Bostik League on Saturday afternoon.

The Gate came back from a goal down to beat a tough AFC Hornchurch outfit 2-1, reflecting on the match, Saunders said:

“Looking back on the game on Saturday, it was a very good, professional performance from the team.”

“Hornchurch is never an easy place to go especially with the pitch the way it was and the fact they had won their last five games at home is testament to them.”

“They have beaten some good sides there in recent weeks, so to go and get all three points was very pleasing.”

Dover duo Kedell Daniel and Tobi Sho Silva made their presence felt during the contest and their contributions proved invaluable, as Saunders highlighted.

“There were some good performances on the day. It was nice for Kedell to continue his goal scoring run and set up the winner for Tobi on his full debut.”

“But the attitude of the whole squad was different class again and I’m pleased that we responded well to going a goal behind and continued this little run we are on!”

Attention now turns to Saturday’s home game against promotion contenders Bognor Regis, as Saunders revealed he hopes the Margate faithful will turn out in full force to support the team.

“We now have a really difficult game against a Bognor side fighting for the play-offs and it is another game to look forward to”

“I want to thank the supporters who made the journey on Saturday, it is very much appreciated and I’m glad the team is re-paying you with some good performances.”

“We will be working hard to ensure we continue this on Saturday and hopefully turn Hartsdown into our fortress for the rest of the season. The supporters play the key to that as their support and noise no doubt has a positive impact on our players.”

“Bognor are bound to bring a sizable amount of support with them, so it should make for a good atmosphere and hopefully a good performance.”
