Ladies Run Riot At Borough Green
Margate Ladies secured another three league points on Sunday as they beat Borough Green 9-0 away from home.
The Blues started their run of eight away league games in a row as they travelled to Potters Mede for the first to face a struggling Borough Green.
Low on numbers, the ‘Gate looked a little uneasy in the opening minutes of the game as they struggled to get going in the Spring sunshine, nevertheless, the Blues netted their first goal as Harri Chapman headed the ball from a perfectly placed corner taken by Greetham.
Borough Green played a high line which often caught the away team offside and a second goal was ruled out as such. Margate continued to battle with a resilient defence and midfield, cutting out the home chances and holding possession led to a huge 17 chances on goal.
As half-time approached Abbie Greetham netted a second in the back of the net for the 'Gate after a well-placed through ball from Kemp making it 2-0 to the Blues.
Margate started with a different shape in the second half and they were rewarded almost instantly as Nicole Adams scored goal number three just three minutes into the second half.
In the 59th minute Margate extended their lead further as a Conabeer assist was tapped home by Greetham to make it 4-0 to the Blues.
Just a minute later Adams beat the keeper one on one to make it 5-0, before in the 67th minute Barton drove through several defenders to net a 6th for The Blues.
A third goal by Adams during the second half brought the sides lead to nine goals and Adams to within two goals from scoring her 50th for the club.
The Ladies side have a free weekend this week with Easter Sunday seeing no fixtures being played. They return to action on Sunday 16th April 2023 as they travel down the Thanet Way to face relegation threatened Herne Bay Reserves.
