Johnson: FA Cup Can Be A Springboard To Find Form

Archie Johnson promises Margate will "come back raring to go in the league", after they begin their FA Cup exploits against Hendon on Saturday afternoon.
Johnson’s unfortunate own goal and Ira Jackson's short range effort made it two losses on the bounce for Margate as they fell to a 2-0 Bank Holiday defeat away at Folkestone.
"It was a hard one to take especially being a local Kent derby, these are the ones you always want to win as a player, to come out 2-0 losers was definitely a blow."
The loss was the first time this season Margate failed to score a goal, but Johnson admits it was hard to pinpoint where it all went wrong for them after creating several opportunities to score at the Alcaline Stadium.
"There wasn't really a point where it all went wrong but eventually more and more pressure means they would break through at some point.”
"We had chances to score and if we take one in the first-half it takes the pressure off second-half.”
"If we had equalised to make it 1-1 we can maybe go on and nick something but it just wasn't our day.”
Margate face Hendon today in the first-round of the FA Cup qualifying stages.
After two straight losses, Gate will be keen to use the game to springboard themselves back to good form.
"The FA Cup has come around at a good time.
After two losses back to back, it’s a good time to take a break from the league and get a good performance under our belt and come back raring for the league."
Archie Johnson is sponsored by David Payne Home & Away for the 2023/24 season.
