Erith & Belvedere (A) - 2nd August 2023

Margate travel to South London, to Welling United’s Park View Road on Wednesday evening to take on Erith & Belvedere for the penultimate pre-season game in preparation for the 2023/24 season, which begins on Saturday August 12th at home to Whitehawk.

The ‘Gate were narrowly defeated by Tonbridge Angels at Longmead on Saturday, with the only goal of the game coming in the 45th minute from a corner scored by Tommy Fagg. The ‘Gate will feel hard done by as they also had two goals disallowed during the match. Manager Reece Prestedge was “pleased” with his sides performance despite the result.

Erith & Belvedere, also known as The ‘Deres’, will play in the Isthmian South-East Division this season after winning the SCEFL Premier League last year. So far in pre-season they have played six games which include a 2-1 win against Punjab United, a 3-3 draw against Horsham, a 4-0 win against Bearsted FC, a 2-1 loss against Dulwich Hamlet, a 2-2 draw against Hastings United, and a 3-0 loss to Chipstead.

Prestedge will be able to call upon captain Sam Blackman and striker Steve Cawley again after they were both away for Saturday’s loss to Tonbridge. Harvey Smith will undergo a fitness test ahead of the game after picking up a groin injury last time out.
