Flisher Injury Update
Eagle-eyed fans may have spotted Alex Flisher prematurely came off the field of play during Margate’s 5-0 victory over Canterbury City on Friday evening.
This precautionary move was taken to protect Flish as he continues to recover from a serious ACL injury sustained this time last year.
Following a scan performed earlier this week, the club can confirm Flish will not require another operation.
However, the scan did reveal severe marrow bruising on the top of Flish’s Tibia, where it clashed together with his femur during the game.
The injury sustained against Canterbury is completely unrelated to last season’s and is considered a freak accident which couldn’t be helped.
A disappointing and unlucky occurrence, the scan did fortunately show Flish’s ACL and medial ligaments are all intact and no definite fracture is currently seen.
Flish will be out of action for around six weeks before he is able to do any training again.
Whilst this news comes as a bitter blow for Flish, his team-mates and the club as a whole, we have no doubt this set-back will only serve to spur on an even greater comeback later in the year.
We will continue to fully support Flish on his road to recovery and have no doubt Gate supporters will do the same.
