Loft has enjoyed a fantastic career in the professional game, making hundreds of EFL appearances for sides including Brighton and Hove Albion, Shrewsbury Town and Port Vale, where he was voted the club’s Player of the Season and helped them secure promotion to League One.
Born in Maidstone, Loft will be a familiar face to local football fans having enjoyed a successful two-year spell at Priestfield Stadium where he captained Gillingham FC.
Manager Jay Saunders expressed his delight at adding Loft to his squad for the upcoming campaign.
“I’ve been looking to add some experience to our squad and Doug fits the bill with the quality he brings. With all his experience, he is a key signing for us and like Lewis Knight is a player I believe with offer us a lot both on and off the pitch.”
“Doug will be a great character to have in the dressing room, someone for our players – especially the younger ones - to learn from and I think he will give us that added edge in the heart of our midfield.”
