Hashtag United Women (H) - 23rd July 2023

Margate Women face Hashtag United in what promises to be a prestigious afternoon for the ‘Gate. Margate, competing in the County league, will have the opportunity to test their skills against the formidable opponents from tier three of the women’s game.

The Blues have played two pre-season games so far having suffered a 4-3 defeat to tier six side Herne Bay last week, whilst their opening game saw them beat Deal Town 4-3 at Hartsdown Park.

As well as their reputable name, the visitors are formidable and will provide Steph Meek and her side their hardest challenge by far. Not only a four division difference, but Hashtag have begun their pre-season with a huge 7-1 victory over tier three side Stoke City last time out. Last season saw Hashtag sweep up the league title and cup double.

With the match set to kick off at 2:30 PM, supporters should use the players entrance gate (next to the main turnstiles) to enter the stadium. Tickets can be purchased in advance by clicking here for ease of entry, however cash and card will be accepted on the day

Blues Enjoy Tough Test Against Hashtag Women Despite Defeat

Margate FC Women take a wealth of positives despite a defeat to Hashtag Utd Women on Sunday afternoon.

The 'Gate welcomed Hashtag on home soil in a bid to promote women's football locally and the game achieved just that.

Hashtag being some 4 tiers higher than the home side netted their first goal after 10 minutes of play and it didn't stop there. At half time the score line sat at an impressive 5-0 to the visiting side.

The Blues continued to show their character and spirit as they battled to minimise the score line, but a number of knocks and injuries left the home team battling to their last ounce of energy.

The match proved fruitful in exposing the players to a higher level of play as well as promoting the side both locally and nationally through hashtags well renowned social media channels. The home side also saw over 100 fans through the turnstiles for their first home fixture since implementing a charge.

Despite the loss the team gained valuable experience from being exposed to such a high level team and morale remained high as the sides walked off at full time.

The women return to action as they travel to Tonbridge Angels for a 6pm kick-off after the men’s fixture on Saturday afternoon.

Our next home friendly is on Sunday 6th August 2023 when they face Millwall U18 Lionesses, with kick-off scheduled for 2:30pm.
