Littlehampton Town (A) - 14th December 2024

By Josh Cole

The Venue: The Sportsfield, St Flora’s Road, Littlehampton, BN17 6BD.

After almost a two-week break since our last match, we are back in action away as we travel to Littlehampton Town!

In that last match we beat Phoenix Sports 0-2, goals courtesy of Max Walsh and Ibrahim Olutade!

LITTLEHAMPTON – THEIR SEASON SO FAR:

The Golds are currently in 18th, only outside of the relegation places by two points. They started this season in the FA Cup extra preliminary round, beating Tooting & Mitcham, 1-0. They then lost back-to-back home games 2-3 to Herne Bay in the league and Faversham in the FA Cup preliminary round, which was followed by a penalty win in the FA Trophy preliminary round against Rayners Lane.

Into the FA Trophy first qualifying round, Littlehampton beat Sporting Bengal 3-2, but in their next league match, lost 1-4 to Steyning Town. A win and a draw in their next two league matches came before another penalty win in the FA Trophy, against Burgess Hill. Two more league games came and went, without a win, losing to Merstham but drawing to Lancing. Their run in the FA Trophy came to a halt in the third qualifying round, losing 0-1 to Barton Rovers.

More cup success came for The Golds as they progressed into the third round of the Sussex County Cup. For the rest of October and November, Littlehampton had nothing but league games, and their record through this period was three wins, three draws and five losses. In their last match they also lost to Sittingbourne on the 3rd of December, so both teams have had a break before this fixture.

Blues Make It Ten Unbeaten In League

Margate made it ten unbeaten in the Isthmian South-East as they overcome a tricky test away at Littlehampton Town, winning 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.

Ibrahim Olutade’s 17th goal of the season, this one from the spot gave the ‘Gate a 1-0 half-time lead.

Hosts Littlehampton were reduced to ten men as George Gaskin was sent from the field of play, giving the Blues a numerical advantage on the pitch, as well as the scoreline.

A Louie Atkins strike 14 minutes from time gave the visitors the feeling that they would cruise to a comfortable three points, however four minutes from time the hosts halved the deficit as substitute Ben Cheverton made it 2-1.

Despite ten minutes added time, Margate held on for another impressive three points which cements their current standing in the top five of the division.
