Walking Football Side Lose League Opener

Margate opened their Kent League campaign last week with a home fixture against Herne Bay. The opposition containing two England internationals took an early lead through Neil Davey but Margate hit back immediately with an Ian Day goal to level the score.

Half way through the first half Herne Bay took the lead again through Neil Brown and the game reached the half way mark at 1-2. That soon became 1-3 with Neil Davey's second before Ian Day got his brace to get Margate back into the game, although from the restart Ian Hamilton extended the Herne Bay lead again. Despite having a player sin binned Margate continued to press but at the final whistle the score was 2-4.

Margate Walking Football team continue their Kent League exploits next week when they travel to Baypoint to play Bay City on Wednesday 29th January 2020 at 8pm

After our formation under the community scheme in October 2014 the Walking Football team has grown and were co-founders of the Kent Walking Football League.

We have played at Wembley at the National League championships finishing second in the Plate final, were beaten finalists in last years Kent FA County Cup and had 5 players selected to represent Kent in inter county matches as well as a representative referee at the Portuguese International tournament.

The team train at Hartsdown Park 5's every Monday between 7pm and 8pm and welcomes all players of all abilities over the age of 50. Training is £2 per session.
